It seems that there were fewer and fewer of her kind around. Or at least fewer who chose not to dive to the depths of the sea to escape man's prying eyes.
Riba lay upon the decaying wreck of an old wreck that lay buried in the sand and the silt. She stared at the long vacant eyes of a man long since dead.
She ran her nimble fingers across the ancient sailors forehead.
Oh how her heart ached!
How she wished that someone, anyone...even the dead sailor would rise up and speak to her.
"Please..." she whispered to no one in particular, perhaps to fate, or to the heavens themselves. "Please...please don't let me be lonely..."
